Marine Geoscience & Offshore Advisory
From geophysical data
to project decisions.
CLEGAR is an independent consultancy for marine and offshore projects. We plan geophysical surveys, verify the data they produce, and represent the client where decisions are actually made: on board, on the quayside, and across the contract table.

About us
A lean practice,
built on real offshore experience.
CLEGAR was founded on hands-on experience in marine geophysical surveys: offshore campaigns, contractor management, and the production and review of the deliverables that end up in front of engineers, authorities and lenders.
We work for offshore wind developers, submarine cable and pipeline operators, port authorities, engineering firms and survey companies. We are independent: we don't sell equipment, we don't acquire data ourselves, and we hold no stake in the supply chain we help you assess. The only outcome we defend is the client's.
We work in English and Italian, across European and international markets, with the flexibility of a small practice and the documentation discipline offshore projects demand.
What we do
Five service lines, one common thread.
Every engagement starts from the same principle: understand the decision you need to make, then make sure the data and the process behind it hold up.

Value leaks
between phases.
Most problems on an offshore project don't start during acquisition. They start earlier, in a badly written specification, or later, in a deliverable nobody really checked. We cover the whole chain.
- 01ScopingWhich decision you need to make, and how much uncertainty is acceptable. Everything else follows from that.
- 02Specification and tenderScope of work, technical requirements, data acceptance criteria, technical evaluation of bids.
- 03MobilisationEquipment verification, calibrations, system trials and a readiness review before leaving the quay.
- 04Offshore operationsSupervision, online QC, non-conformity management, production and downtime control.
- 05Data and reportingIndependent verification of processing and interpretation, deliverable review, contractual close-out.
- 06Lessons learnedWhat cost time and money, and how not to repeat it on the next campaign.
Why CLEGAR
Genuine independence
No conflicts with suppliers, vessel owners or equipment manufacturers. When we say data isn't acceptable, we're not protecting anyone else's interest.
Experience from both sides
We've worked inside the organisation that acquires the data and alongside the people who buy it. We know where a contractor has a point, and where they're shifting risk onto the client.
From the sea to the document
The same person offshore during acquisition and on the final report. Operational context doesn't get lost in the handover.
The right scale
Light structure, fast decisions, no overhead premium. We step in where expertise is needed, not where headcount is.
Sectors
Where we work
Projects where the seabed and what lies beneath it determine feasibility, cost and risk.
One metre of uncertainty on basement depth can change the foundation concept. Our job is to reduce that uncertainty before it becomes a variation order.
